  1. Jesus is one of the three persons of the God who exists in Hebrew Scripture. God has love—mercy—for many sinners in this text.

  2. I am always astounded by the level of distrust and disobedience in these chapters. These "heroes of the faith" are broken people, just as we all are. Yet, God remains true to God's promises, despite our inability to do the same.

  3. In light of what is happening in our world, our communities, and in our own families, it is astonishing to me how little has changed in terms of human behavior. And yet, God continues to have mercy upon us.

  4. There are many times when I wonder how on earth I can be called to ordained ministry, In the reading this week, I realize that this is not possible "on earth."
